A flexible ventilation hose is a flexible duct that is used to supply or extract air in ventilation systems. The flexible ducting is often connected at one end to a strong ventilation duct such as a spiro tube or a collapse duct, while a ventilation grille or mounting bush is often located at the other end. Flexible ductings are ideal for bridging distances or making bends that would not be possible with a less flexible ventilation duct.
Which flexible ducting do we have in our range?

- Aludec aluminium flexible ducting: this aluminium hose is suitable as an extractor hose for the extractor hood, among other things. The hose is suitable for temperatures from -30 degrees Celsius to +140 degrees Celsius.
- Greydec polyester flexible ducting: this polyester hose is suitable for general ventilation applications where a light but strong hose is required. Polyester hoses are less resistant to high temperatures and are often used for standard ventilation in dry areas.
- Sonodec acoustic ducting: this acoustic hose is equipped with acoustic insulation which serves as a sound absorber. This hose is ideal for devices where a high level of air supply or air exhaust is required and ensures that you are less bothered by ventilation noise. The perforated inner layer ensures better absorption of sound waves, making this flexible hose many times quieter than other types of ventilation hoses.
- Isodec thermally insulated ducting: this thermally insulated hose is very suitable for WTW systems because it helps prevent heat loss and reduces condensation. The thermal layer maintains the desired temperature for a long time and less air and heat/cooling can escape, which ensures a more efficient and sustainable ventilation system.
- Combidec flexible ducting: the combidec flexible hose is, just like the Greydec polyester hose, suitable for general ventilation applications. In contrast, the Combidec has a layered construction with plastic and aluminium coating. This makes this hose more durable and less susceptible to tearing.
- PVC flexible ducting: these flexible hoses are lightweight and are often used for air conditioning and other small household tasks. These hoses are also less airtight than, for example, polyester or aluminium hoses. The PVC flexible hose is less heat-resistant and/or strong than other hoses, but on the other hand cheaper and suitable for simple ventilation applications for which a (very) strong flexible hose is not required.
- Semi-flexible aluminium ducting: the aluminium semi-flexible hoses are sturdy, yet somewhat bendable hoses that are often used for extractor hoods or to connect two ventilation pipes. These hoses have a smooth interior that allows the air to be transported well and also offer a higher degree of strength than other hoses, making them less likely to dent or tear.
How to install and maintain flexible ducting
Flexible ducting can be used for various purposes. Normally, you need to attach the hose on both sides, for example to an air duct or mounting bush (for a ventilation valve), but there are also applications where the flexible hose only needs to be connected on one side, such as with a mobile air conditioner. At Ventilationland you will find various connection sleeves, hose clamps and tie-wraps that are suitable for connecting flexible hoses properly and securely.
Depending on the application and placement of the hose, it is determined how the hose should be maintained. For hoses that serve as an extractor hood, air extraction for damp rooms such as bathrooms or hoses that are used for a ventilation system, it is recommended to clean the hose every 3 to 5 years. This allows the air to continue to flow optimally through the ventilation hose, which ensures optimal air flow. The hoses can easily be cleaned with a vacuum cleaner, brush or compressed air. For flexible ducting used for industrial applications, such as a cooling system or an extraction system for a catering kitchen, it is recommended to clean the hoses thoroughly every 2 years. This is because more dust or dirt can get into the ducting with intensive use, which can cause mold formation (damp location) or grease accumulation (kitchen extraction). Can the hose no longer be cleaned properly, for example because it is heavily soiled? Then it is wise to replace the hose in its entirety.
